School's Out, and Work Is Not: Two Home Accessories and Gadgets to Make it Work

Screenshot-2023-07-05-at-8.36.49-AM

AS REMOTE WORK BOOMS, THE DEMAND FOR SMART HOME GADGETS THAT ENHANCE PRODUCTIVITY AND CONVENIENCE HAS GROWN WITH IT; LET’S LOOK AT TWO SMART HOME ITEMS THAT WILL BOOST YOUR AT-HOME PRODUCTIVITY AND PEACE OF MIND DURING THE KID-FILLED SUMMER MONTHS

In 2019, the digital conference company Zoom made $330 million. Not bad for a video call platform. However, just last year, they earned four billion US dollars.

According to Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, 42% of the US workforce was working from home around the time of the red-hot quarantine month of June 2020.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, numbers cited in Fortune magazine, one-third (34%) of US workers were doing " 'some or all' " work in the home in 2022.

The kids were at home for more than just the summer in 2020. And the next year. And most of the ones after that.

Now, those are some statistics, and you're a person in the real world. When you work remotely, that real world has spilled into your own home with numerous screens for business. And now the dog is barking because the door dash driver rang the doorbell, and the dog needs to be fed, but your 8-year-old spilled the expensive organic dog food that the vet said was necessary, and now . . .

All that is to say, school is out, but work is not. Being there to put a band-aid on your little ones and being able to prep the casserole while you go over the latest ROAS is excellent. But it's also stressful and time-consuming. It used to be just one screen: a laptop for your home business. There are more devices and screens now, and that's not all that's changed.

Evolve Technology has created whole home smart automation for people whose work life and life are almost entirely in one building: the home. We thought we'd explore some useful items on the market to save time and reduce the hassles that every home office warrior deals with.

IMPRESSIVE AUDIO QUALITY REQUIRED: SINCE YOUR MOBILE DEVICE IS NOW AN EVERYTHING

A cool phone with the kinetic satisfaction of push buttons is gone. It's mainly just a smartphone or tablet now. This digital pocket computer allows you to stay connected and access important work-related apps and tools on the go or on the stay. But, it does a lot more than that: it can order dinner; it's your personal cameraman for the board meeting; it's your email line when you're watching Noggin with little ones.

There are sounds you want to hear in the home and sounds you don't. (If you want an external smart speaker system, Evolve can do that too.) Work sounds are important, so you want to hear those.

Regarding audio quality during virtual meetings or conference calls, investing in high-quality headphones or earbuds is non-negotiable. These devices provide excellent sound clarity while minimizing background noise distractions.

iOS devices have become more than just tools for entertainment; they have become essential components of our own homes and workspaces. (And they can be integrated with Alexa Voice Control; Evolve can help with that). Since it's a home office space, there's also room for that wonderful prerogative to be a tad informal: (requisite sweatpants joke goes here). But there's more. For that iPhone or other iOS items that are your secretary, your R&D team, your sometimes accountant, and your human resources consultant, there are some fun Air Pod personalizations.

The Airpod Max and other headphones use sophisticated algorithms to analyze ambient sounds and generate an equal but opposite sound wave to cancel out unwanted noise. There will be unwanted but necessary noises in the home, and Air Pod products can help with that too.

Premium headsets or earphones with premium sound quality are essential for when you want to schvitz it out in the gym or get some fresh air. But you can also keep an eye on your health while working from home.

FITTING IN FITNESS

We all want to spend more time at the gym. (If you want to set up a home gym, Evolve has been crafting high-tech kickboxing mini-studios, AR and VR golfing, built-in shower saunas, and more.) But simply standing up more is surprisingly healthy. We all have that friend who won't shut up about getting their steps in, and a standing desk is the next best thing.

The standing desk is an ergonomic workstation that allows individuals to alternate between sitting and standing positions, promoting better posture and reducing the risks associated with prolonged sitting in front of a computer.

Getting one with a trundle or hand crank is ideal if you go for a standing desk. These adjustable desks allow users to switch between sitting and standing positions, promoting better posture and reducing the risk of sedentary-related health issues. There's a trade-off, and it takes some getting used to if you decide to go for it. See Harvard Health Publishing.

For a desk that can adjust, and which will be the most fun to say out loud, there is the Ikea "Trotten."
